**Responsibilities**
Programmer for a Wasteland 3–style tactical RPG project - Develop, extend, and polish gameplay combat systems using unreal engine GAS for a tactical RPG. Work on turn-based combat logic, enemy AI behavior, ability systems, combat flow, weapon and attack logic, cover-based interactions, animation integration, and gameplay feedback.
Set up and tune AI using Behavior Trees, Blackboard systems, perception, decision-making, and combat behaviors. Collaborate with designers to make encounters feel tactical, readable, and responsive. Iterate on combat feel, pacing, balance, and technical implementation based on feedback.
**Qualifications**
Strong C++ experience in Unreal Engine 5, Experience building or modifying gameplay systems, combat systems, AI systems, and tactical or RPG mechanics.
Must have experience with Unreal Engine AI tools, including Behavior Trees, Blackboards, AI Controllers, navigation, perception, and enemy combat logic.
Experience with Animation Blueprints, montages, ability logic, damage systems, weapons, status effects, and turn-based or tactical combat systems is strongly preferred.
Good understanding of clean gameplay architecture, debugging, performance, and async remote collaboration.
Portfolio or examples of previous Unreal Engine gameplay/combat work required.
