**Responsibilities**
Act as the founding technical lead for a new independent studio.
Own Unreal Engine 5 architecture and technical direction from prototype through production.
Build and evolve core gameplay systems (C++ first, Blueprint where appropriate), with a focus on systemic stealth, traversal, and authored encounters.
Work closely with creative leadership on a dark, cinematic sci-fi AA action-adventure, helping translate narrative and art direction into robust, scalable gameplay systems.
Establish best practices for performance, tooling, pipelines, and code quality suitable for a small, senior team.
Make pragmatic technical decisions that prioritise clarity, maintainability, and player experience over unnecessary complexity.
Hire and mentor early engineers as the studio scales.
**Qualifications**
Deep, hands-on Unreal Engine 5 experience with a strong C++ focus.
Shipped commercial titles or equivalent senior-level engine experience.
Strong understanding of gameplay architecture, systems design, and performance in real production environments.
Comfortable owning technical decisions end-to-end in an early-stage studio.
Experience working in small teams or startups strongly preferred.
Clear communicator who enjoys collaborating closely with design and art on a narrative-driven project.
